frequently asked questions

Answers to all of your questions

booking : only online

I WOULD LIKE TO BOOK, WHAT ARE YOUR AVAILABILITIES AND HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK?
We only take bookings on our website. Our availability is very variable, therefore it is recommended to book as early as autumn for the following winter. An acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to you by email with your booking number.
WE ARRIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK BUT I HAVE SEEN THAT RESERVATIONS ARE ONLY POSSIBLE FROM SUNDAY OR MONDAY, WHAT should I DO?
For an arrival in the middle of the week or for a registration for less than 5 days, it will be necessary to come and make the registration in person and see according to availability and the possibility of joining the group according to the child's level.

meal time

how does the meal work at midday
The children have lunch inside the Children's Village chalet (hot dish and dessert), served by the activity leader team, the instructors then pick them up for the afternoon ski lesson.
I HAVE BOOKED HALF DAYS FOR MY CHILD AND I WOULD LIKE tHeM TO BE ABLE TO HAVE LUNCH IN THE VILLAGE ON CERTAIN DAYS, IS THIS POSSIBLE?
On arrival you will need to buy meal tickets at the Children's Village reception desk: if your child skis with us in the morning, you will pick them up at 1.30pm after lunch, if the child will ski with us in the afternoon, they will be welcomed at 12 noon for lunch.

languages spoken at the village

DO YOU OFFER SKI SESSIONS ONLY IN FRENCH, ONLY IN ENGLISH, OR IN BOTH LANGUAGES?
This depends on the number of children enrolled in a level. Depending on the number of children, it may happen that a group is made up of children who speak some French and some English. The instructors and activity leaders will then teach in both languages, so that each child understands.
my child doesnt speak english or french - is this a problem?
The instructors are used to taking care of foreign language children. They organise themselves to make themselves understood by each of the children however they can.

group formation

MY CHILD WOULD LIKE TO BE IN THE SAME GROUP AS HIS FRIEND. WHO SHOULD I TALK TO?
The groups are formed according to the number of participants, and are divided by level and age. If your children have the same levels and age, they can be together. You can ask the group leader on the first day of the course.
IS IT POSSIBLE for MY 3 AND 4 YEAR OLD CHILDREN to be in THE SAME GROUP?
The 3 and 4 year olds are not mixed because the rhythm and progression are different for these ages. We therefore advise you to leave them in their separate groups. They won't be far away during their ski sessions and will be able to be together during meals and activities.

ski equipment

is the ski and snowboarding equipment provided by the village?
No, children must come readily equipped with the necessary equipemnt for their ski or snowboarding lessons.
is wearing a helmet compulsory?
Yes, it is compulsory. It assured better safety of the child in case of an accident, a fall, and it is good practice, allowing the child to get used to protecting themself from a young age.

lift passes

ARE LIFT PASSES INCLUDED WHEN I BOOK AT THE CHILDREN'S VILLAGE?
No, passes are not included.
Please buy a ski pass for your child either online or at the lift ticket office.
which one should I buy?
3-4 year olds get a free ski pass, which needs to be collected at the lift ticket offices.

From the age of 5, beginner's passes for Bronze (1st Star), Silver (2nd Star) and First in snowboarding need an "Avoriaz pass" from the first day of class onwards.

The Vermeil to Competition (3rd Star, Bronze Star, Gold Star, Flèche and Chamois), Fun, Free and Expert in Snowboarding courses need a "Portes du Soleil ski pass" for the whole week.
